June 15, 2011 - JLL President, Rube Williams, Ph.D., has been elected the chairman of the board of directors for the Jet Science Institute (JSI). JSI supports science education and outreach. More information at www.jetscienceinstitute.com.
June 11, 2011 - Sky High School hosted its first informational meeting for the general public.
June 5, 2011 - JLL Sky High School opened for its inaugural period enrollment. Sky High School provides students, from 9th to 12th grade, opportunities for extraordinary academic achievement with emphasis on applications in Astronautics, Informatics, and Robotics. Jet Learning Laboratory is committed to developing partnerships in the community. Currently, we have established over 15 partnerships with schools, businesses and community- based organizations. 
As a result of these partnerships, JLL has relationships that provide information that can help to develop programs that support the math and science academic goals of the community. JLL also offers special programs, events, and products that support our partners’ math and science academic goals.
With the vast opportunities that students have available today in science, medicine, engineering and education, which are prominent industries in the Houston Area, it is vital that the community has an academic resource like JLL.(see mission statement)
